The LOML and I had a perfectly fantastic Anniversary Weekend. It mostly consisted of food, driving and talking. In case you’re local or plan to visit the Berkeley area, here are some of the places we went.
Some of the tastiest (and fastest and cheapest) Indian food we’ve ever eaten is at Vik’s Chaat. Go there if you can. You’ll be glad you did. We had the Chicken Biryani, Dosa, and Somosas. Yum! We found this place by typing “cheap lunch berkeley” into Yelp and reading reviews.
The BEST ice cream and sorbet I have EVER tasted can be found at Ici’s. They use fresh, nature, organic, in-season ingredients to create some of the most interesting flavors. I had Meyer Lemon with Candied Lemon Pieces Ice Cream and Raspberry Lime Mint Sorbet. We waited 20 minutes in line and it was totally worth it. I’m planning my next trip to Berkeley just to visit eat gorge there again.
We bought some cupcakes at Love at First Bite (pictured above). I was a little disappointed. I wanted the flavors to be more powerful, but then again I tasted the cupcakes after (hours after) the ice cream and it would be hard to beat the punch of that ice cream. The Sweet Vanilla cupcakes at Kara’s Cupcakes still make me swoon.
We had lunch at a little french place called La Note. It was nice. We hit our favorite Thai food place for dinner and that was yummy.
We tried to go paddle boating (we called it a Sunset Cruise) at Lafayette Reservoir, but we got there at 6:15pm and the last boat rental was at 5pm. Would have been handy if they had that info on their website. Another time…
We stopped by Twig & Fig and had a lovely time feasting on the eye candy. We meant to visit the Rose Garden, but ended up at the Botanical Gardens by accident instead. Not too much in bloom right now, but a lovely place for a peaceful visit.
Hope you can visit some of these places if you get a chance.
And a heartfelt Thank You to those who sent sweet anniversary wishes our way!
