I bought myself a treat.
A calligraphy set.
I bought this one from Emilie Friday’s etsy shop because the ever-in-the-know Miss B at Le Blahg raved about it. She was spot on to rave.
Last night I finally played with it. It’s fun! I had an idea in my mind of what I wanted the letters to look like. Let’s just say, my practice sheets shown above are not quite what I envisioned. It’s harder than it looks! Hoping to incorporate some pretty swirly-ness into future designs. We’ll see…

your first attempts look pretty great
It takes a bit of practice – yes – but I have no doubt you’ll soon be swirly!
Tanya’s right, though. And I love how “lame” was one of your practice words!! lol
I’ve always wanted to try calligraphy! Can’t wait to see what designs you come up with.
Uh oh. With hand-lettering that wonderful you’re about to find yourself with a new Etsy shop for custom calligraphy. Watch out Whitney! LOL
WHITNEY! These are AMAZING!!!! Oh my you are a natural, now send me a note:) Thank you for your sweet words today on the Blahg, you are just the very bestest, really Whitney you are.
xo,
Miss B
Amazing for your first try! You have the soul of a calligrapher! Even though I have some sets of calligraphy nibs floating around unused, I checked out your girl Friday’s shop and just had to pick up that set too. I can’t wait for it to arrive! =)
Emilie Friday calligraphy! Oh I’m a fan
I was totally eyeing up that calligraphy set too! Glad to see you had fun with it. Maybe I’ll finally order one too
