Shortcut for the Paper Lanterns Craft

October 16th, 2009 § 8 comments § permalink

For those of you who are planning on making the paper lanterns/ball/ornaments from The Creative Place, I’ve created a template with trim marks for the strips needed so you don’t have to measure each time. You’ll like this if you’re lazy efficient like me. Open the template in Adobe Reader, feed your paper into your printer so that it will print on the BACK of your paper. Print and cut. Want to have your cut pieces on a diagonal? Print the template on a plain piece of paper and tape to your pretty paper and cut. I’ve created templates for 3 sizes of paper. To download, click on the size you need.

Chandelier Printables

Just added some 3″ square editable printable pdfs to the shop. The chandeliers were a request from a customer.  I couldn’t decide if I liked one chandelier per tag or more, so I did both.

When Cindy, over at Skip to My Lou, contacted me about guest blogging, I thought “How fun!”. Today, our first collaboration is posted and there’s a little something for you. Cindy had this great idea for a PDF. A door hanger that lets the little neighborhood pals know when your kids are available to play.

If you want a more personal door hanger, I just added an editable PDF to the shop. You can personlize it with your child’s name. Is it just me or would this be funny to make and hang on an office door or work cubicle?

5 Good Things Booklet – Printable Download

July 15th, 2009 § 70 comments § permalink

**Update 7-30-2009** A big THANK YOU to everyone who has left a lovely comment and/or spread the word about this little booklet. I truly appreciate you!

At times, it can be so easy to take that slippery slide downward and focus on what’s not working. It happens to the best of us.

About 5 years ago, I noticed each night at dinner when we would ask the kids  “How was your day?”, we would get a lot of what went wrong for them. We (the grown-ups) would try and point out the good in the gripe du jour. This would lead to defensiveness from the kids and an overall unpleasant dining experience for all.

So, one night I started out the dinner conversation with “Tell me 5 good things about your day.” It ended up being a great conversation starter and the opportunity to teach the kids (and grown-ups) to focus on what is working. We still do this most nights at the dinner table. It’s always amusing when one of the kids has a guest for dinner and we ask them to participate. They get a shy, funny look on their face, but play along. Repeat guests know the drill and often prompt the question and want to go first.

Long story longer (!)… This little printable pdf booklet came from our dinner routine.

As always,  this is for personal use only.

note: the booklet doesn’t have to be used solely to record good things about your day. It’s also handy to jot down good things about a situation that is not ideal (your job, a relationship, etc). Pick any topic and find five good things about it.

A couple of weeks ago, I participated in a Giveaway over at Michelle’s Lovely By M blog. One of the ways to enter was to provide a design suggestion. Well, I read (and very much appreciated) all the comments and here are a couple of new items for the Whisker Graphic’s shop inspired by those comments.

New 2 inch Editable Printable for the Shop

June 23rd, 2009 § 2 comments § permalink

I haven’t been doing much designing lately, but last week I did work on a new 2″ square editable pdf for the shop. The scroll design is really simple which I think makes it versatile. Though I made samples geared towards a business owner, this design could also have many personal uses, like party bag stickers, book plates, gift labels for kids’ presents, address labels, food/canning labels, place cards, organizational labels etc.

2″ Squares for Moms and Kids

May 26th, 2009 § 0 comments § permalink

Some new items for the shop. Two inch square printable and editable pdf templates for parents and kids. They are just like the 2 inch squares I have for sellers in that the font, the text color, size, format and alignment can all be changed right in the pdf. They come 20 cards to an 8.5×11 sheet and up to 5 different text messages can be printed at one time. So you can print 12 gift tags and 4 book plates and 4 calling cards on one sheet or print 20 To/From Gift Stickers (just print on full label sheet). Whatever works best. I plan to add more to the shop. If you have any ideas, just leave a comment.
